• Shipping companies are optimistic by the bigger Ports contribution in trade in Saudi Arabia.

               Participants in the annual meeting of the extended sea shipping sector in the eastern region that was held in Asharqia Chamber (Tuesday, 20/12/1620) optimistic about the future of the economic activity of the ports of Saudi Arabia, in light of developments in the economic situation in the Kingdom in general.
    They stressed that the establishment of the bridge linking Eastern Province and Jeddah through the railway network, will enhance the Saudi port position, specifically the ports in the eastern region to receive the goods coming from Asia, such as China and India, as it would be the perfect choice for exports of these countries if they want access to local and Gulf markets.
    They noted that many developments are taking place in the Saudi ports in the infrastructure that makes ports able to receive more goods, which requires further development of the procedures that would shorten the process of the clearance of goods in Saudi ports. Noting to  the progress of the automatic system in Saudi ports which Shorten the clearance of goods from the ports of Saudi.
    Chairman of the Chamber of shipping in the Eastern Region Ihab bin Mubarak Al Jasser said that the Committee is seeking to contribute to the development of the   sector to contribute effectively in the national economy " He explained that shipping is one of the most important sectors and one of the pillars of  Kingdom vision 2030,
    saying that the goals of the Committee is to "improve the relationship with the relevant authorities to try to solve all the obstacles facing the sector," noting that 75 to 80% of Saudi exports launched by sea shipping, and this gives a clear proof of the importance of this sector, so the Committee considers the need to communicate with the interested agencies to overcome the challenges, to preserve the national economy in general.
    Al Jasser reviewed among other activities by the Committee during the year 2016, which reflects the Committee efforts in the service of the sector, the Committee continued with a number of government agencies concerned to resolve the marine sector problems, such as the King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, the  border guardians on the port, and the Customs Department, also the Ministry of work.
    He stressed that the Committee of Shipping communicates with all specialized Committees in
    Asharqia Chamber to raise the level of performance.
